Philippe Funk

FunKnight exists because one person looked at a 178-year-old curiosity and saw a game.

Philippe Funk is an advanced-technologies expert and interdisciplinary innovator whose work crosses artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital teaching. He is the founder and president of the Polytechnic Cyber Institute, an online school training students worldwide, and holds a Distinguished Professorship in Technology and Education Leadership.

A lifelong maker of puzzles, he designed SUKEIMA in 2013. In 2026 he invented Funk's Tour — formally the Beverley–Funk Tour. William Beverley found a knight's tour whose lines sum alike in 1848; Funk turned those sums into clues and certified every board for a single answer. That idea is FunKnight.

He is also a songwriter whose song “Love's Worst Nightmare” won music and film awards.
