Accessibility statement
Last updated: 3 October 2026
Polymath ASBL is committed to making funknight.games accessible, as required by the European Accessibility Act (Directive (EU) 2019/882) and the Luxembourg loi du 8 mars 2023 relative aux exigences en matière d'accessibilité applicables aux produits et services.
Standard
The applicable standard is EN 301 549, which incorporates the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
Conformity status
This site is largely compliant with EN 301 549 / WCAG 2.1 AA. The exceptions are listed below.
What works well
- Every board, including the classic game, can be played with the keyboard alone; the controls are documented on How to play.
- Every interactive element shows a visible 3px brass focus outline.
- Cells, buttons and fields have accessible names, and game messages are announced in live regions.
- Colour is never the only carrier of meaning: wrong numbers show ✕, completed sums show ✓, and lives are given as text.
- Text meets a 4.5:1 contrast ratio, and large text and interface boundaries meet 3:1.
- Animations honour the reduced-motion setting by showing their final state.
- Every unrated board (daily, archive, Any Board, the classic game and races against the AI) has a Pause button.
Known limitations
- Ranked duels are a real-time competition and stay timed, without a pause (exception under WCAG 2.2.1).
- The 19×19 goban and the largest boards need horizontal scrolling on phones, inside the board's own area.
- The explainer animations are decorative; what they show is also described in text.
